ABOUT SVX

SVX is a nonprofit, diversified financial services firm driving impact for investors, organizations, funds, and enterprises. We provide knowledge and insights, design strategies and products, manage funds, operate a platform for raising impact capital and making impact investments, and support systems change initiatives. We work across sectors that deliver meaningful impact: climate, food, equity, housing, and community real estate, helping investors find and make impact investments and issuers raise impact capital. We work with issuers from place-based impact investing funds to community power co-operatives producing renewable energy to charitable organizations tackling mental health and addictions. We work with all investors, from foundations and family offices to everyday investors, to help them identify opportunities and to support their decision-making efforts so they can match their money with meaning. SVX is regulated by the Ontario Securities Commission and is registered as an Exempt Market Dealer (EMD) in British Colombia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Québec. We have partners and operations across Canada, as well as in the US, Mexico, and Colombia. Since 2013, SVX has worked with over 500 funds, enterprises and organizations, clients have mobilized over $350 million in capital, and we maintain a network of over 1,200 impact investors.

PURPOSE & OVERVIEW OF POSITION

This full-time position will support fund design and management services offered through SVX. This work may include consulting or advising other impact funds, performing due diligence on a potential investee or working with investors. The intern will be able to work on specific projects while also having a role helping to grow the impact investing ecosystem in Canada. RESPONSIBILITIES The Intern will play a key role in helping to develop SVX’s Fund Services practice for diverse external audiences during a key growth period, supported by other members of the Fund and Management team. The successful candidate will learn deeply from the overall impact investing ecosystem with a focus on services execution and applied innovation.

The Intern will contribute and support activities including the following:

• Support design and discovery for SVX impact investing fund activity, particularly place-based impact investing funds
• Support capital raising activities and investor relations for impact investing funds
• Coordinate effort with network partners (other funds, intermediaries and investors) to collaborate on deal flow, due diligence and venture support • Research pipeline of potential investees
• Research impact investment funds across Canada / US to identify co-investors and pipeline partners
• Develop advisor and coach network interested in supporting fund investees and providing insights and support through review process
• Provide venture outreach, intake and due diligence for potential investments for current and future impact investing funds including the VERGE Breakthrough Fund
• Support newsletter creation, social media, and other outreach tools used to promote fund activities
• As needed, perform KYP and onboarding process to SVX platform for investees seeking additional investment from SVX network.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate demonstrates the following characteristics:

• Resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly and grow in this field;
• Excellent interpersonal and professional communications skills (verbal and written);
• Positive and constructive attitude;
• Flexibility and adaptability to seize new opportunities and manage shifting priorities to meet and exceed client needs;
• Strong collaborative abilities with internal colleagues and external colleagues and partners;
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills;
• The ability to manage details and organize processes without losing sight of the big picture; and;
• A self-starter with personal accountability and a commitment to achieving and exceeding goals and objectives.

The candidate will describe their:
• Background in private markets, particularly performing due diligence on investment opportunities
• Strong financial acumen (e.g., financial analysis and modeling, budgeting)
• Planning and project management skills to effectively manage multiple objectives and deliverables at one time
• Understanding of evaluation methodologies and impact measurement
• Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners
