ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking two exceptional individuals to join our team as Incoming Investment Banking Analysts, starting on January 3rd, 2023. Successful candidates will gain exposure to various Valitas projects during the first six months, after which we aim to extend career opportunities to top-performing analysts that fit with our culture and values. YOUR CAPABILITIES

The successful Analyst is meticulous, articulate, and precise in their written and oral communication. They listen carefully to synthesize information quickly. Other attributes essential to this role are:

▪ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and meticulous with graphics in PowerPoint; and
▪ Proven track record of high performance in a fast-paced professional/academic setting.

The qualifications, skills, and requirements include:

▪ Academic excellence in completing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline;
▪ Excellent analytical skills;
▪ An impact player who is diligent, rigorous, tenacious, and can carry tasks independently to completion; and
▪ Demonstrated interest in being part of an entrepreneurial culture is an asset.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Those who join our team are expected to adjust to their roles very quickly and will be assigned independent projects immediately, with guidance and mentorship from senior management. In this role, you will:

▪ Participate in our Professional Development Program offered through a combination of shadowing on client projects, professional courses, selected readings, and workshop sessions;
▪ Lead and manage the firm’s quarterly strategic projects and support senior team members;
▪ Work on pitch books and live deals where appropriate, gain hands-on transaction experience as you gain exposure to Valitas’ mandate processes and tools;
▪ Research, build, and maintain internal databases;
▪ Assist in preparing published materials (e.g., confidential information memoranda, whitepapers, infographics);
▪ Build target lists and perform financial and strategic fit analysis for potential targets and bidders, including industry research; and
▪ Perform financial modelling, including valuation work, applying methods developed at the leading investment banks and private equity funds (e.g., discounted cash flow analysis, comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis).

Applications due November 27th, 5:00PM (EST) 

Compensation: $5,000/month during the training period, with a $5,000 signing bonus for those who continue as Investment Banking Analysts after the six-month period. Investment Banking Analyst compensation is in line with the leading Canadian capital market groups. Valitas also has a leading health and wellness benefits plan.
